Task: Demonstrate the ability to be an effective listener by following oral directions; participating in class discussions by retelling, rephrasing, elaborating, or making inferences; listening attentively while others are presenting; and answering questions after listening to a passage read by the teacher.

Consistently listens to each presenter, makes eye contact, and leans forward or exhibits behaviors indicating interest. Scores 90-100% on listening test of MacMillan/McGra w reading test.
Level 3
Proficient
Frequently listens attentively and follows directions. Participates appropriately by staying on topic revealing background knowledge, or piggy backing on previous answers. Usually listens to presenters and makes eye contact with the speaker. Scores 80-89% on listening test of MacMillan/McGra w reading test.

Proficient
Sometimes listens attentively and follows directions. Sometimes stays on topic when participating or appears to be listening but does not participate in discussions. Listens attentively to some presenters and occasionally makes eye contact with the speaker. Scores 70-79% on listening test of MacMillan/McGra w reading test.
Level 1
Non
Proficient
Rarely or never listens attentively and follows directions. Is completely off topic; no reaction or no response. Is inattentive during presentations or when others are speaking. Scores below 70% on listening test of MacMillan/McGra w reading test.
Scoring Process: Level 4 = Total 14 - 16 Level 3 = Total 11 - 13
Level 2 = Total 7 - 10 Level 1 = Total 4 - 6
