Essential and Enduring Learning: Collect, organize, represent, and analyze data
Curriculum Code: MA-03-05-01
Task: The student will conduct a survey based on a self selected or assigned topic, organize data on a chart, graphically represent it, and present the results. Student will also take a written assessment on data analysis and bar graphs.
Product: Bar graph with either an oral or written interpretation and completion of written assessment.

Analyze and interpret data and bar graphs (Part A) Data collection and graphing project (Part B)
Level 4 Advanced Score of 90% or higher on the written exam Extensive collection of data on the topic. Both horizontal and vertical bar graphs are displayed in a superior manner
Level 3 Proficient Score of 80 - 89% on the written exam Sufficient collection of data on the topic. Bar graph accurately displays results and contains essential elements
Level 2 Partially Proficient Score of 60% - 79% on the written exam Insufficient collection of data. Some essential elements of the bar graph are missing or the information is inaccurate.
Level 1 Non Proficient Score below 60% on the written exam No data collected or no graph

Scoring Process: Level 4 = Total 8
Level 3 = Total 6 - 7 with no score of 2
Level 2 = Total 4 - 5
Level 1 = Total less than 4

Indicator #1: Written assessment with students analyzing and interpreting bar graphs.
Part A Calculator use is permitted.

Indicator #2: Project - Teacher will specify the criteria for students project to include data
Part B collection, representing data using at least one bar graph, and presenting conclusions from data in either written or oral form. This may be done as an interdisciplinary or group activity.
