Use and explain in writing mental math and estimation strategies. Students will justify their choice of procedures and relationships between methods while evaluating reasonableness of results. Perform and understand the four operations with fractions, mixed numbers and decimals.

Level 4
Advanced Use 3 or more strategies correctly with clear and concise explanations. Performs all four basic operations with any combination of fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals with 90% or higher accuracy.

Level 3
Proficient Use 2 strategies correctly with clear and concise explanations Performs all four basic operations with any combination of fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals with 80% - 89% accuracy.

Partially
Proficient Use 1 strategy correctly with adequate explanations Performs all four basic operations with any combination of fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals with 70% - 79% accuracy.
