Activities
There are many opportunities for students to become involved in their school. Various groups take place before and after school and during lunch.
Student Council -- This group holds several fundraisers throughout the year to support projects in our school. Students are elected to positions by their classmates.
Yearbook Club -- This group is open to fifth and sixth grade students. Students learn various technologies to create school yearbook.
Homework Club -- This is open to all students before school to finish homework assignments.
Crossing Guards -- This group is open to fifth and sixth grade students. They promote safety by helping students cross at the crosswalks before and after school.
Knights of Lakeview -- This group is open to third through sixth grade boys (two from each class) and meets during lunch time for six weeks. Boys start as pages, progress to squires and are knighted during an official ceremony as they learn how to be more chivalrous and practice their more polished manners at home and school.
Dear Abby Group -- This group is open to third through sixth grade girls (two from each class) and meets during lunch time for six weeks. Girls talk about friendship issues and create a group-selected project to show what they have learned.
Walking Club -- This group is open to all students and meets after school. Good exercise habits and enjoyment of the outdoors are encouraged through teacher-led walks (as weather permits) and activities.
Karate Club -- This group learns karate technique and discipline. It meets once a week after school.
Brown Bag Book Clubs -- Two book clubs (third/fourth grade and fifth/sixth grade) are held during lunch time. Students read a book and create various projects/activities that correspond to the book.
Destination Imagination -- Interested third through fifth grade students take a test to qualify to compete at state level. Students practice creative problem solving through independent activities.
